swamp railroad

                                                 PHOTO OVERKILL!!

All these photos are from the park Sunday.

Do you see Megan running away from the pretend train? Well... Let me tell you a little story.

The entire 10 minutes we were at the railroad tracks, we kept joking with each other about a train coming. At one point, I am looking at Camille.
"You guys. There is a TRAIN coming....... and I AM NOT KIDDING!"
We beginning racing back to the car when I realize I had left my keys on the metal railroad railing. I darted back trying to remember the exact some I left them. Although it was still a distance back, I kept imagining the entire train going off the tracks because of my keys.
Keys in my hand, we ran back towards the car.
 Best work out ever.
I stopped a few feet from the car, and Megan shouted from behind me, "KEEP GOING!". If I make this a habit, I want her as my motivational coach.
Just as we closed the doors to the car, the train whizzed past us.

After all that, I don't understand why it was so important that we made it to our car. I guess we didn't go deaf from the train's horn.

ike mission part 1

Here are some of the pictures I managed to capture during the mission trip of some of the damage I saw from hurricane Ike. This was a 3 years ago. I will have to post some specific stories and memories.

We visited this old joint. It had a two stories building.. I believe it was a hangout bar or some such fun place.

We stayed at a church. This was in the room we slept it. Tittle gave us quite a puzzle, until we realized the top of the 'T' was suppose to be part of the sand dunes. It gave us a few giggles. :)

We put up drywall. In high temperatures and humidity, it wasn't the cleanest, pleasantest job. I really enjoyed it though.

quiet time

Between church and band practice, I had some spare time. I went to the park and ate my lunch while reading my bible and history book. I then took ten minutes to play around with my camera. It was such a beautiful day - bright warm sun, fresh air, green grass.

megan

I  had to do a separate post for this girl! A couple of these pictures are candids of her beautiful laughter and smile, which reflects the joy and peace she has in her life through Christ. She is a girl who seeks God and works hard. She is far more than an ordinary teenager and I am blessed to have her in my life.

ladders

It took a lot of courage and a couple of tries to get this picture. To get to this part of the roof, we had to walk along the house, on a part where the roof was only a foot or so wide, without much to hold onto.
We climbed up onto the roof and wood awning above our patio to have a picnic.

We played the giggle game, or tried too.
This ladder squeaked when we walked on it, and it was missing a step. It didn't help Megan, who is not very good with heights. It took her 5 minutes to get back down. I have to be more than a foot away when she is scared like that, or else she would get panicky. :)
