a camel from camp!

My friend Camel has been gone at a camp this summer, serving and ministering, even attending! I have missed her, it was so strange not having her always present. Now I have to get used to having her again!!
She is gorgeous, ehh? She has such a heart for children as well as camp ministry, and it was neat to hear about her summer. God answered her prayers and used her life to set an example to the kids. It was neat to hear of the relationships she formed and the impact she had!

this girl mayyy also be the definition of cray-crazyy!
It was during these photos that some junior highers were throwing bottle caps at us, and giggling. Thank you. Thank you very much kiddos. I hope that it was a lot of fun, the highlight of your day!
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16, we are told to be joyful always. I continually associate the term 'joy' with Camille. Her life and her very evident faith shines and has made such an impact on my life. Love you, Camel!

forecast: a bride shower

the bride and her sister!
I helped prepare for this wedding shower, and got to attend it. I have 3 sisters that are married, but I don't remember too much from the wedding showers, so this was a neat experience. Shelby and Pancho had spent the summer in Ecuador visiting his family and helping with various ministries and serving. I am so glad I got to see them for a couple of weeks before they had to head back to school.
this face means....exactly what you think it means. :)
Marriage is a commitment before God. ((I was reminded at camp that it isn't about finding 'the one', putting the focus on the creation rather then the creator, but rather about finding a Godly person who you respect and commit to love). I am so excited to see how they will be able to serve God together and display God's love and grace to each other through their marriage.
Notes of encouragement and blessings were written on stones to be given to the couple, which I thought was a great idea!

The bride's mom made cute little muffin-cup lasagnas with wonton wrappers, while my job was stuffing ice cream cones with fruit!

one of the few games we played; The Story Game, a description of the married couple's life.

lace and spiders

my work dress code: grey, white or black clothing.
it definety eliminated a lot of my closet. but sometimes, i really love this dress and will never get tired of wearing it, even though i am surrounded by these neutral colors all day.

these navy tights, as well as my belt, were only a dollar, perhaps even less!

look who was hanging out with me on this chair, chilling!
p.s. loving my hair! i was super worried that it would be unattractive and unfeminime, but it really has been fun! i feel like julie andrews, it is hard been very low maintenance. some of the best looks have been when i have gone to bed with wet hair! i may not grow it out as soon as i thought. :)

banana hands!

jessica from germany is visiting! when she came over a couple of days ago, we decided to make Mississippi Mud Pie...
Let me tell you about this dessert. Growing up, I would always ask for lasagna, mississippi mud pie and rocky road ice cream for my birthday... ( of course it is /COMPLETELY/ different now. I had strawberry ice cream last year.) This has been a tradition for 6, 7, 8 years. When we went on vacation when I was little, we went to a ranch. We got to ride horses and spend energy outside. We also were introduced to this magical dish, and mom got the recipe!

now, because we are in america, it is not my birthday, and because i'm impatient sometimes, we (read that as 'I') decided to cheat a bit. I bought graham crust and didn't follow a recipe
. Jessica made it in Germany and made her own crust, whipped her own cream and probably milked her own cow and ground her own cocoa. :)
hahaha. speaking of dairy-laden desserts, I am trying to cut out my dairy! it has been interesting. i have not been able to completely cut it out, but so far a lot of it has. ice cream is very tempting for me, however, so I bought shorbet! best decision.

p.s. if you type in 'weird movies' into youtube, you will find a strange 'dark german techno' music video that tells the story of someone with banana hands. it makes me laugh sooo much, and i cannot get it out of my head!

The above pictures are from a stop we made on our way to Austin to drop Megan off at the camp she worked at for the summer. Isn't Camille beautiful! I wish I could capture it better.
Tong, from Thailand. One of the very last days we got to spend with her: Starbucks and exploring downtown! So many feelings. Goodbyes... each one is so different!

independence day

for independance day, we decided to go to the woodlands to check out what was going on. my dad wasn't home, so there were only five of us. we parked a few miles away, expecting traffic after the fireworks and walked to the waterway. it was a little crowded but they had food, music, games, giveaways and such. it would have been nice to go by myself or with one other person, it is hard to navigate through a large crowd with five, and it is hard when there are so many different agendas.

we escaped from the heat at Hubble and Hudson. I love that store, so much in it! We got some watermelon popsicles sweetened with agave. I was the only one who liked it; it tasted good and still natural. :)

pink head!

Guess what I realized! I have not documented /ANYTHING/ from my month of pink/red hair! Wild. So I have gathered up the few pictures so I have something to show for the 3 hours it took.
The next few posts will probably be trips from the past month and a half.
